512:Personas was an interactive video installation created by Detour Collective and Caterini Dinopoulou. 512:Personas was presented at the Supper Club, The Basement, Brighton, UK in November 2009. Detour Collective presents 512:Personas, an interactive video installation that is inspired by the child’s game of “Mix and Match”. Set in a spontaneous and playful manner the spectator’s body image and movement are captured in real-time. Trajectory

Trajectory was a project especially prepared for a sound art exhibition entitled Audio Forensics. The exhibition took place in IMT, a gallery located in Bethal Green, London, UK from the 27th till the 30th of November 2008. The idea around the project was to set up a networked performance where a roamer outside the exhibition space sent an audiostream inside the gallery space and jammed with the audience by sending text messages. The final piece was an audio depiction of the space surrounding the gallery.

Program Notes:

Trajectory is a 30 minute performance piece which explores the territories surrounding an interior. It focuses on the idea of using sound as a canvas on which the performer inscribes an itinerary of the visited areas. Phonographic sound, body – environment interaction and narrative, among other sources, construct the palette of a live transmission streamed back to the gallery space for example. The performer's exploration is also filtered and enhanced by the audience's participation using text messages instigating her/him for example to look for sounds, talk to people or take pictures. This dialogue between the transmitter and the receiver bridges the gap between the real, physical space of the performer and the imagined space streamed back in the gallery. The performance is completed when the wanderer enters the defined space and submits the gathered material.

Trajectory experiments with the notion of subjective encoding/decoding in the process of transmitting/receiving an experienced space and time. Alternatively to its wide use in broadcast and radio, in trajectory the same idea is placed in a more artistic context and it is used as a tool for a modern psychogeographic investigation and live phonographic documentation of an area.

Trajectory in Audio Forensics

There are three performances planned, one on each exhibition day at 3pm. On the 27th of November artist Manu Luksch will render her own version of the trajectory for the private view of the exhibition. The second guest performer is curator, radio producer and artist Richard Thomas who will be performing on the 28th of November. Peter Cusack will give a performance on the 29th of November, the final exhibition day.

About the Guest Artists

Manu Luksch: Through her films, telematic performances and interdisciplinary works, Manu Luksch explores her preoccupation with the effects of emerging technologies on: daily life, social relations, and urban and political structures. Particular zones of focus are the borders of public space, the weave of the urban fabric, surveillance and the gaze, security and identity systems.

Her recent film project, Faceless, is a science fiction fairy tale compiled from surveillance video footage recovered under the UK's Data Protection Act. The film treats CCTV images as 'legal readymades', and its scenario derives from the legal properties of the image.

Luksch has exhibited her work at venues and festivals internationally, including "Hors Pistes" (Centre Pompidou, Paris 2008), "Goodbye Privacy" (Ars Electronica, Linz 2007), "Connecting Worlds" (NTT ICC, Tokyo 2006), "Satellite of Love" (Witte de With, Rotterdam 2006). She served as production assistant to Peter Greenaway (1992/95), as artistic director of the Munich Media Lab from 1995 to 1997, curated Art Servers Unlimited, the first conference on internet art, in 1998, and, in 1999, founded interdisciplinary arts production company Ambient Information Systems. Luksch was born in Austria in 1970. She now lives and works in London with her partner and artistic collaborator Mukul Patel and her son Indigo.

Richard Thomas: Richard Thomas is an artist/curator/producer primarily working within broadcast media, most specifically radio. He is Content Manager and News Editor at Resonance 104.4FM and produces and presents an eclectic range of programmes for the station. Thomas writes film criticism and curates sound, music, film and performance events, and chaotic social situations. Recent teaching includes Guildhall School of Music & Drama. Thomas' personal practice combines these strands with visual and written material in his self styled explorations into 'The Psychedelic Dimensions Of Boredom

Peter Cusack: Based in London, he works as a sound artist, musician and environmental recordist with a special interest in acoustic ecology. Projects range from community arts to research into the role that sound plays in our sense of place. His project 'Sounds From Dangerous Places' examines the soundscapes of sites of major environmental damage. He produced 'Vermilion Sounds' - the environmental sound program - for ResonanceFM Radio, London. He lectures on 'Sound Arts & Design' at the London College of Communication and is a research fellow on the multidisciplinary EPSRC funded 'Positive Soundscapes Project'. CDs include 'Your Favourite London Sounds' (Resonance), 'Baikal Ice' (ReR), 'Favourite Sounds of Beijing' (Subjam).

Stoma

Stoma was exhibited at the University of Brighton's Gallery (2007) and at the Athens Video Art Festival (2008).

Stoma is an interactive installation inspired by Beckett's theatrical monologue entitled Not I. A short excerpt of the text is used as the canvas on which a series of pre-recorded interpretations of it builds up. The visitor is invited to perform in this voicescape by firstly recording his or her voice reading the same text for 40 seconds and then by listening to it for the next 6 minutes as it overlaps way with the disembodied voices inside Stoma. He/She is expected to provide a focused listening to the composition in order to fully participate in the performance.

The concept behind this project is supported by two parameters that interconnect. First, it is the treatment of a theatrical text as a musical one in order to give to it a new angle of interpretation and a new edge. Secondly, it is achieved by the use of the human voice. The performer provides his/her personal version of the text and witnesses a process of voice recognition and exploration within a predefined soundscape.

The listener will become aware of his/her voice subtly changing through a series of automated filter settings and hopefully recognise the musicality of its resonant frequencies. Its fusion with the unknown voices will create a supportive environment where it will become more apparent how musical, present and yet absent it can be. It is indeed an interesting process to listen to these voices correlating and overlapping as it can lead to a diversity of realisations depending on the listener.

Stoma is therefore a process of decontextualisation for both the text and the voice itself. It simply suggests how one should listen to a voice by paying attention to details other than its content and context. It is an intimate moment of accepting or even re-evaluating one's own voice. Voice is the personal sound image of oneself and Stoma is an open channel to everyone who wants to explore this idea.

Το “Manekinekod” είναι το τρίτο μουσικό project της Ελένης Αδαμοπούλου (Magnitophono, Giganta). Aza

Ο Αza γεννήθηκε στην Αθήνα, όπου και ζει. Το 2007 κυκλοφόρησε το album του cosmo.sys με την πολωνική Audiotong. Dalot

H Μαρία Παπαδομανωλάκη (aka Dalot) ζει και εργάζεται στη Νέα Υόρκη. Ασχολείται με τον περιβαλλοντικό ήχο, την τηλεματική τέχνη και έχει κάνει εκπομπές στο ραδιόφωνο (resonance fm, radia, free103point9) και παρουσιάσει ηχητικές εγκαταστάσεις σε γκαλερύ και φεστιβάλ. Μέσα απο το project της ως Dalot προσπαθεί να προσμίξει ηχητικά την αγάπη της για τα field recordings, την minimal electronica, την ηλεκτρο-ακουστική σύνθεση και την ambient αισθητική. The first one is a lofi cover to an old track by Attik, the Athenian troubadour of the 20s and 30s. SUBHEIM is Kostas K's project ( composer / video artist / graphic designer), a downtempo, experimental project with idm elements, together with female vocalist Katja.

Dergar

Bio

Dergar is the solo project of Christos Garbidakis, born [13 April 1968] and living in Chania, Crete, Greece.

Chris is making music since 1996 (with theoretical background 2 years of classical guitar studies at the age of 10-11), working with computer and software synthesizers (now mainly Ableton Live 7), classical and electric guitar, voice, melodica and a few field recordings. The results are rather sad, long and minimal with sometimes more flush and dramatic-cinematic orchestrations that could accompany landscapes and other pictures or drives-journeys and let emotions emerge freely...

Works:

Unreleased album "20 Balcony Stories" [2001-2002]: "Eviva", recently introduced on BBC6 Music by Tom Robinson, is included in that album... A remix of "dergarp" by the artist Radio One (Spain) from the same album and the song "summer" [2005] have been released in www.persona-isla.org netlabel.

A remix for "Roliga Timmen (Longing Machines)" original song of the much beloved Italian band Port-Royal has been released in the special vinyl version of their latest album "Afraid to Dance" in Valeot records ( www.valeot.com ) in 2008.

"The passion (dreaming trees version)" with Katja's [link at myspace] vocals contribution has also been introduced on BBC6 by Tom Robinson.

Chris’s work on a full length album since December 2006 is in the process of final mix. Release details to be announced... The song "Automnsunshine" from the same album will also be released in a double CD compilation in 2008 by Vim Records in Thessaloniki - Greece.

Chris is always open in collaborations and currently working, as well as on the final mix of his album, on a new solo album and on a collaboration album with Lyn Dobson [flute, sitar, voice], ex Soft Machine member, who has also contributed with flute recordings in the Port-Royal remix.

FS: Name one album that was very influential for the creation of your sound/project

d: very hard to answer as the influences are so many since i was a kid and they were all vast. Just to mention some: This Mortal Coil: "Filigree and Shadow", Brian Eno's entire work, Harold Budd, Port Royal' s entire work, Manos Hadjidakis: "O Megalos Erotikos" (regarding the melodic, lyrical and emotional influences) and most of Manos's work, Pink Floyd, early Genesis, Franz Shubert's quartets, Erik Satie, Georges Delerue, Cocteau twins: "Treasure", "Victorialand", Robin Guthrie, Arvo Part, Pieter Nooten & Michael Brook: "Sleep with the fishes", FSOL: "Life Forms" (that's an early electronic one), Yellow6, Fedaden's work, Kraftwork: "Autobahn", Boards of Canada, Stars of the lid, etc... the list is endless, some more in my myspace influences section...

d: The only live experience I had was an improvisation with Port-Royal in Basel - Switzerland in 2006 at a party at our friends Lisa's house... it was pretty funny as i was trying to play with the mouse pad of my thinkpad :) working with Ableton Live 7 is pure fun and i might get a set ready soon...

FS:What do you think you can offer/change in the Greek music scene/reality

d: i think that the problem in greece in general is rather social: the way that people apprehend artists... thus, if i could, I would like to transmit the way i perceive music: emotionally, fully consciously, focusing in the aesthetic and not in any use or fashion...very helpfull could be some wonderful collaborations between the greek artists and, honestly, i know many of them that are absolutely marvelous... collaborations with artists from abroad also helps... but what seem more important to me are the issues of aesthetic and education... music draws up emotions, creates atmosphere and "space" but, as well as in paintings for example, apprehension might be achieved not so easilly... i have a friend, she is a teacher of arts in high school... they have maybe a key position... and of course the "Flight Sessions" :) i am just sharing some thoughts, definitely i should share them with some friends i have in greek radio stations too... :)

FS:Have you collaborated/will you collaborate with artists from abroad?

That is something that makes me truly happy because, above all, we have a fantastic fraternal friendship with these artists:
Port Royal - Italy: Remix for their song "Roliga Timmen (Longing Machines), (details in bio above...). The beloved fratelli have been and are helping me so much!

Melorman

Bio

Melorman is the music project of Athens based musician Antonis Haniotakis beginning at 2001.

His sound is a mixture of deep melodic elements and lush sounds.

He begun his way to electronic music with his debut ep “Biography” in Sixteensteps.

He has participated in Labels such as Shima Records,SCCT Records,Symbolic Interaction,IVDT and Vim Records.

“Far Away Morning” 9 track ep in 2007(CCT Records) and "Drawing Circles Trhough an Empty Sky" ep in 2008 (Summer Rain Recordings) contain just a handful of Melorman’ s work to date.

Aside from his own material he has done extensive remix work for many other artists and collaborated with Naono(GR) (Naono & Melorman), Headphone Science(U.S), Renfro(U.K) and Amy Duncan(Scotland).

Melorman often works collaboratively with video artist Andrea Smits (Frequency Films) and Thom Undrell (Novi Films).

FS: Name one album that was very influential for the creation of your sound/project

There is no particular album to refer to.I have listened to many artists before i begin my own project.The only thing i always liked and kept from all these sounds is the existence of melody that im trying to expand in my own personal sound.

FS:Name an influential gig

I do not remember exactly the year.Probably in 1997 . It was a live performance by Aphex Twin at "Rodon" stage in Athens . He played only for 15 minutes in the dark (you couldn't see him at all) and then he left like a shadow.

We thought first that it was someone else that started the line up.But then someone told us that it was Aphex for sure.We never learned why he left like that.

Usually I 'm performing live with Naono as Naono & Melorman.Combining our sound and image makes live more interesting.

FS:What do you think you can offer/change in the Greek music scene/reality

There are lot of things that changed in Greece from 2000.Electronic scene is rising.People are searching alternative ways of spending their night or day.

Much more festivals for electronic alternative scene.

Changing musical reality (and not only) in Greece is or must be a collective effort.

From my side i m trying to organize live events with other artists and invite people to watch and hear something new.

FS:Have you collaborated/will you collaborate with artists from abroad?

Yes of course there are.It's nice to work with other artists.Its fun and opens your mind in new sounds,styles and genres.

I have worked with many composers outside Greece such as Headphone Science (U.S.A), Renfro (U.K) , Amy Duncan (UK) , Rumorse and many more .

FS: Name an artist with whom you would like to perform

I really have never thought of that . I do not have any particular wish .

FS: Any plans for the future?

I'm now finishing in my cd album which is going to be released probably in 2009.

Also I'm focusing on a cooperation with friends filmakers such as Andrea Smits and Thom Undrel for making a video album containing their images and my sound.

Elica

Bio

Elica group was formed by Giorgos Grigorakos and Fotis Karaoglanis in Athens in 2003. They have presented "nekyia"
and "to taxidi twn xartaetwn"(the journey of the kites).Within these two projects,Elica experimented while combining electronic live performance and video art.Also they have composed a soundtrack for Sarah Kane's play "blasted" which was presented in thessalonikh in 2005 for the first time. They have performed as support group with Kbhta all around Greece.They have participated with their own remix ('to skyli') in "movement sessions-a tribute to kbhta". Their first
album called "ASYMMETRICA" and released by V.I.M. records.

Chronik

Bio

George Papadopoulos (aka Chronik) was born in Athens in 1974.

His engagement with music started at an early age when he initially began to work as a radio producer for JAZZ FM in the beginning of 1990 and later as a journalist in the Greek music press. He started producing music five years ago. His strong affiliation with the “family” of city centre offices (Berlin) gave him the chance to develop his personal sound: a piano based minimal ambient consisting of a film music aesthetic, melancholic sparse notes and repetitive melodies free of expressional or temporal limitations.

Collaboration is the core of inspiration and the motive power for chronik’s music. During the past two years he has been collaborating with Roger Doring (aka Dictaphone). They have performed together in Berlin and Athens and their album will be released in 2009.

Another project under the name piannou is in collaboration with pianist Rannou Todea from Rumania.

The soundtrack he composed for the film Inside a Change(USA) in courtesy of Channel Three 21 productions will be released in the beginning of 2009.

His latest album entitled Speechless was recently released under the Belgian independent label Vu-Us.

FS: Name one album that was very influential for the creation of your sound/project

There are so many albums and sounds that inspired me to create music. Its difficult to mention only one or two... So many movies and so many music effected my music. Also life in general so....hm... lets say that i like Type Records, Leaf and City Centre Offices a lot!

FS:Name an influential gig

In general or mine?

In general i remember a lot of live shows that made me feel something inside. I could mention the first live set in athens from Residents, more than anything.

Mine, i would say my first live set together with arovane! I had a technical problem in my sound and an ugly noise came out from my monitors! I couldnt do anything to fix it and there were noisy sounds for 10 minutes. The audience thought that this is my music and they started to clap! i dunno why! Maybe they liked this ugly stuff :)

FS: chronik live

There is a live for the october together with port royal in athens. I dont know tha date yet.

FS:What do you think you can offer/change in the Greek music scene/reality

I don't care so much about what u are calling "greek" reality. I know many good musicians from Greece and in general there is good music in the air! But I'm here to offer my music to everybody who likes listening to it and not to offer something to the Greek reality. Also Greece ..lets say athens...is not the best place to do your music if you expect support and good promotion.

I do what I wanna do with my music and I never have in my mind whats going on in the Greek music industry. I try to support musicians that I really like or they are friends and nothing more. There is nothing more that I can do.

FS:Have you collaborated/will you collaborate with artists from abroad?

Yes! During the past two years I have been collaborating with Roger doering from Dictaphone. Also with a romanian piano girl but she is not known. And for the future I plan to share some ideas with Porn Sword Tobbaco and Arovane.

FS: Name an artist with whom you would like to perform

Its like a dream but i would prefer Helios! A big place with pillows for the audience. Not chairs :) Also with my mate Rannou coz we have never played live together :)

FS: Any plans for the future?

Some live shows in Athens for this year to promote my music...Then I will go again back to Berlin to collaborate with some musicians and record some music ...and hopefully at the begining of the new year to release the album that I have been working on together with Roger Doering.

Name one album that was very influential for the creation of your sound/project

We can't say there was a specific album that was a major influence because we are constantly listening to many different stuff. If we had to name a few, that would be recordings from Pengo, Fat Worm Of Error, Christina Carter, Sword Heaven, Caroliner, Lou Barlow, Emil Beaulieu, Lee Ranaldo, Cakes Of Light, Butthole Surfers, Wipers, Dead Machines, Big Blood. It's not all about music though. We are influenced by other forms of art as well.

Name an influential gig

September 24 2006, Uncle Paulies, Brooklyn - Sword Heaven. It was one of the most intimate and intense sets we've ever seen. Actually, they played twice that night.
What do you think you can offer/change in the Greek music scene/reality ?

Unfortunately there is not much of an experimental scene - there has always been just a small group of people actively participating - here in greece. There is no ground for genuine evolution yet, even though we're beginning to think that some people are occasionaly touched by our folk tunes.

Have you collaborated/will you collaborate with artists from abroad?

We've already had split releases with Slasher Risk (New York), Fossils (Ontario), Blastocyst (New York), Placenta Popeye (France).

Name an artist with whom you would like to perform

Panagiotis wishes REVERSE MOUTH could open for Aerosmith. "Aerosmith is like the best mega group ever. Like totally. Steven is so cool, wish we could hung out backstage with a loaded six-pack and a bunch of telltales."

SONOLOGIK

Bio

Luc Messinezis, also known as Sonologik, is a sound artist from Piraeus, Greece. Coming from a scientific academinc background he studied in parallel music composition. He was also intrigued by sound, its attributes and the potential it provides for exploration and expression. He was a keyboardist and singer in various bands until 2007 when he decided to engage with the sound arts. He is involved in a variety of creative projects composing music and sound design for films, producing electro-acoustic and audiovisual work. He is currently working on a multispeaker installation piece entitled wunderkammer - The sound cabinet of curiosities.

In his own words:

"It started in a womb, Where I was hearing things and I could not see anything. It continued with birth, When I heard something that made me cry. Then I made a sound and I heard laughter. I'll make another, Just before I die... and then go silent... ... maybe for the first time... Sound is the first contact of a human being with the world. The infant, eyes shut, receives the sounds and dreams of a world awaiting. Realizing the importance and using the medium of sound, SoNoLogiK is an attempt to explore the boundaries between reality and imagination. Sound Composition, phonography, sound design, installation art and audiovisual works are some of the ways to trigger feelings, messages and sensations. Waves and particles, harmonies and noises, objects and metamorphoses, are starting materials for a journey of exploration aiming to unfold stories yet to be told about a world that is changing and the shift of the position the individual occupies within it".

Name one album that was very influential for the creation of your sound/project

It would be impossible to name just one album. The character of each work is a result of the experiences, emotional condition, planned concepts and the sum of influences at the given time. Terms like realism, surrealism or chaos and algorythm have shaped the identity of my practice. I could only mention artists and works that I like but I could not say if these influenced my music as composing for me is balancing process between logic and the unconcious.

Lilipoupoli (Lena Platonos), If I die Idie (Virgin prunes), Portishead (Portishead) and contemporary classical Composers is what comes first to my mind.

What do you think you can offer/change in the Greek music scene/reality ?

Greek music should open up and extend its ears. The composers should stop being afraid of the unknown and start experimenting more. This has happened in the past but the modern greek way of living has caused the majority of Greek composers to repeat a so called successful recipy. Such a behaviour maybe derives from the fact that the Greek market is rather small and therefore the artists should start looking to extend their practice outside the borders.

It is hard to accept the excuse that foreign music is not easily accepted in other countries when we have the recent example of Iceland introducing artists like Sigur Ros, Bjork and mum. How could I contribute? Just keep Composing I guess...

any plans for the future?

At the moment I am developing a Sound art installation called 'Wunderkammer; The Sound Cabinet of Curiosities' which is an attempt to treat sounds as objects and create a spatial composition by discarding the factor of time. This field is something that will need more exploration and I intend to develop it further in the future. Nevertheless conventional experimental composition, collaborations and performances are activities that will always appeal to me.

Nokalypse

Bio

Nokalypse is Themis Pantelopoulos (b. 1982) from Athens, Greece. Making music since the summer of 2000 and having a deep dive into ambient and heavy beat electronica until early 2003, he was already attracted by sound collage and drone ambient music and therefore passed on to experimentation with electroacoustic and noise music in 2004. He has already released three solo albums on cd-r: Axiac Infinity(May2005, echomusic), Between trouble and desire (October 2005, phase records), Ocean of Inexistence (December 2006, triple bath) and one split album with Novasak from Denver (December 2007, swamp of pus). He has also participated in the debut album of the greek band Night on Earth. He has founded the recording label Triple Bath in September 2006.

Name an influential gig

I would have to say that I like any live set that it's not based on the

show part of it but in the music. If a live set has other things, like video, dancing or any other kind of performance, to help the musician communicate better to the audience it’s fine. But music has to be strong enough to stand on it’s own. So I like any live set that has strong music.

spyweirdos live

I nowadays play with audio cubes as long as I’m playing alone as Spyweirdos. But when I play with Mourjopoulos & Floridis I use more than that.

What do you think you can offer/change in the Greek music scene/reality ?

Nothing. The music is already put there for everybody. Most of the people worldwide listen to pop music. Nowadays almost all the mainstream music is pop music, there is no mainstream Greek music there is pop music with Greek vocals on it, that’s all. What are we (musicians like me) dealing here is that a small amount of people would like to hear something deferent than pop music. I make music for this very small amount of people so I really do not believe that I can change something, massive mainstream music is very strong. It’s more or less like government, religion, class, fashion and any other thing that makes us all one mass, passively accepting anything no critical thinking.

Sure this is global music so that’s how we should deal with it. Both pf them will be out in 2008. As for 2009 I have some plans but nothing is 100% sure yet so I’d rather not say.

Stavros Gasparatos

Bio

Stavros Gasparatos was born in Patras in 1975. He studied classical and jazz guitar at the “Fillipos Nakas” music conservatory. He also has a degree in mechanical engineering from the technological university of Patras. Since 1997, Stavros Gasparatos has been working as a music composer, arranger, producer and sound engineer. In 1998, together with Alexandros Tsilfidis, they founded the music group “gyro gyro” releasing tree albums featuring musicians like B.L. Reiniger, N. Kypourgos and others. The last seven years Stavros Gasparatos is composing music for theater and dance performances, working with many directors, choreographers and theater groups (Viky Georgiadou – Amore, Chris Lyngas – Protes Yles. Name one album that was very influential for the creation of your sound/project

It is impossible to think of just an album. I am influent from completely different albums. From really classical once (Bach is my favorite) to staff like Schnittke, Xenakis or alva noto, ikenta, venetian snares or really pop things. I think that it is important to be open and take things from different stiles of music.

Name an influential gig

I have been to a lot of concerts but if I had to choose one it would be the concert of B. L. Raininger and Steven Brown in Rodon (ex tuxedomoon) i think in 1997. I don t know why...

What do you think you can offer/change in the Greek music scene/reality ?

I don’ t believe I can change anything. What one could do (and I hope I am), is to be honest with oneself, and to try to write music by being always true to one's vision and to what gives him/her pleasure rather than to what the others expect to hear.

Have you collaborated/will you collaborate with artists from abroad?

As it obvious from my the title of my album “Rehearsals” I write a lot of music for theater and dance. So really soon I will be traveling with some of the companies ( I' ll fly to Honk Kong in October and to London in January, with “seeking Oedipus”), and I am discussing about a collaboration with a dance company in London but lets see..

any plans for the future?

Now I am working on the soundtrack for three plays in Greece and I am also setting up a live set with two more musicians (Violin- chelo) for playing “Rehearsals” live.

What I would really want is to have the time to really work on my live performances and to be able to play more gigs and to tour.

Tokyo Mask

Bio
Tokyo Mask is the one man project of Kostas Karamitas, a student of electrical engineering at the university of Patras (Greece). As Tokyo Mask, Karamitas delves in the sound of industrial, ambient and dub to explore themes of urban dystopia, mutation of inner/outer space, hidden human desire, identity and bleak social landscapes. The project was given birth in 2000. The debut EP "Backbone" was released in 2005, folowed by the full-length album "Hinterlands" in 2007, both through Low Impedance Recordings (www.lowimpedance.net). FS: Name one album that was very influential for the creation of your sound/project

TM: There are tons of artists and projects i admire. I've grown up listening to a lot of early industrial stuff and throughout the years i've (somewhat) broadened my taste. Some of my personal heroes are: James Plotkin, Justin Broadrick, Throbbing Gristle, Jon Hassell, Scorn, Michael Gira, Coil, John Zorn, Thomas Koener, Phill Niblock, Killing Joke, Masami Akita.. and many more.

FS: Name an influential gig

TM: I don't think i can pick just one. I've really enjoyed Jamie Lidell, Synapscape, Tim Hecker, Alexander Hacke, Pansonic and probably more i can't remember right now. I generally like going to gigs, whatever band or project plays. I just like the feel of going somewhere and listening to somebody play.

FS:Tokyo Mask Live

TM: I feel more comfortable mixing at home than doing a live show. I don't do a lot of gigs. I want a gig to be a really unique experience. I don't like the idea of presenting the same material over and over again and i also don't like playing tracks out of my records. I mostly like playing brand new stuff, prepared especially for the occasion and giving myself some room to improvise. I'm still exploring the possibilities, trying ideas out, struggling to achieve what i have in mind. I must also admit that standing in front of people makes me nervous, so there you go, that's another problem right there.

FS: What do you think you can offer/change in the Greek music scene/reality

TM: Nothing. I don't really care for making a 'difference' in a scene or anything. I'm not a musical pioneer, i know that pretty well. I just do what i do.

FS: Have you collaborated/will you collaborate with artists from abroad?

TM: There have been some talks/plans but nothing concrete.We'll see.

FS: Name an artist with whom you would like to perform

TM: Possibly one of my aforementioned personal heroes. That would be a dream come true but generally, any project that shares some basic common ground with mine will do.

FS: Any plans for the future?

TM:I have a new album almost ready. I'm currently polishing the mix and taking care of the final touches. I'm taking my time with this. It should come out by the end of the year or early 2009 through Low Impedance Recordings.

ANIKA

Bio

ANIKA began as a music project in 1998 by A.G in London. Drawing influences from artists like Chrome, Neu, Brian Eno, Suicide and Music Concrete, ANIKA uses the new technological means to create a mix of analogue and digital synthesis and combine the cyberpunk aesthetic with the experimental avant-garde music.

Between the period of 1998 to 2004, ANIKA recorded demo tapes in a four cassette recorder in London, Newcastle and Athens. The debut album A:0304 (12” EP - 45 rpm )was released in Greece on May of 2005 and included the recordings from 2003 till 2004. 800 copies were pressed on vinyl and were distributed mostly in Athens, Greece and only a few copies were distributed in the rest of Europe. A:0507 is the second album by ANIKA and it will be released in 2008. This album includes the recordings made between from 2005 and 2007.

I was born on 1981 in Thessaloniki. Starting at the age of 4, I attended classes of classical music at the "Syghrono Odeio Thessalonikis". The main reason that led me interferring with music was at first my father's vinyl collection of classical music. From the age of 6 I attended piano classes until 1998, totally 16 years. I got the Harmony (1998) and Antistixis (2001) Diplomas in music. I got a degree in Electronic Music Technology (2003) from "Neo Odeio Thessalonikis" and also a degree in Sound Engineering (2001) from I.I.E.K. Xyni in Thessaloniki. I'm involved in electronic music the last 8 years and during this time I participated in a number of live events in Thessaloniki, including: Adam's Family Project No.1, No.2, No.4,No.5 ,6.Live at Apoitamoria and at Zenit Club My songs "Syn and Pan" and "What Johnny Likes" were included in the CD "AFP No.2", by the nickname Dusty Applehead, the song "Hoire Aeba" was included in the CD "AFP No.3" by the name Anastasios Papalias and the songs "Hoire Aeba" and "Ak" were included in the CD "AFP No.4". I have released an EP with 6 track (1997) and I am working on my second full album. My latest project is a Sound Engineering Studio by the name "Orange Studios" residing in Thessaloniki, Greece.

FS: Name one album that was very influential for the creation of your sound/project

L: I'll have to say I was amazed by the sound of Amon Tobin's "Supermodified" and I think that it was what I was looking for, or at least it affected me for the final sound that I want for my songs to be. Except that I'm always open on new sounds and music and I always take the parts that I like adding them to my music.

FS: Name an influential gig

L: I'll have to go way back in time. It was an experimental orchestral band from France and I was 15 years old. I was amazed by the style of their sound. It was really something that made me understand that anyone had the freedom to experiment on different sounds and make his personal music style. I think that this band was the beginning for me to experiment with music.

FS: What do you think you can offer/change in the Greek music scene/reality

L: Well that's a tough question. To tell you the truth for now the only thing I can do is show the world my music. More things will follow, and for every change we need and a great idea.

FS: Have you collaborated/will you collaborate with artists from abroad? 

L: I am hoping that from the new year I will start doing live gigs in England since I am working on some ideas with an english producer. Time will show.

FS: Name an artist with whom you would like to perform

L: I would really like to do a live gig with Squarepusher cause I really like his music. I would also like to do a project with an orchestral band or with a greek folk band. That would be really interesting!

FS: Any plans for the future?

L:Well, I am hoping to release my second album and see what can I do with my personal site since it needs a lot of work. I would also want to make music for art videos. I've done some in the past and I realized that it's one of the things I enjoy. Except from that I am continuing making remixes for artists from Greece and Europe.

Bio

Pridon (aka Petros Voudouris) has released his 2005 debut album on Fluxion’s Vibrant Music imprint and subsequent EP on Low Impedance Recordings. Having relocated from Brighton (UK), where he graduated from his BA in Digital Music (which also led him to compose original music and sound design for part of the London Graduate Fashion Week and present his work on London’s Resonance FM and Brighton’s Radio Reverb, as well as testing the UK waters with his solo live shows), he now resides in Greece. Here he works making music and sound design for TV and radio, enjoys constructing his own analogue EQs, distortion and preamp units for his studio and constantly works on new solo material. His range of works include international CD releases, freelance sound design and music for TV/radio, remixes, live/dj sets and multichannel installations. He has been invited to play at a number of events and festivals and he is now hard at work completing his next full length album.

FS:Name one album that was very influential for the creation of your sound/project

P: I have been influenced by many different artists, can't nail it down to one album. I was very into the IDM scene, Warp, Planet mu, Rephlex, Scam for many years. I loved how it started, that genre, being really free and people where trying new things.

FS:Name an influential gig

P: I think I enjoyed mostly some DJ-sets I heard in clubs of Chris Clark and Plaid. That was in Brighton when I was a student. Nice vibes.

FS:Pridon Live

P: The way I work at the studio when making music is almost impossible to recreate in a live situation. Every time I prepare a live set I often find my self in a chaotic place full of possibilities. So I end up always changing
my approach like a chameleon, always in a quest to find my favorite colors.

FS: What do you think you can offer/change in the Greek music scene/reality

P: I am not consciously trying to affect any reality, I'm just a guy that makes music. I like my music, and I make it because I enjoy doing it. Off course it's flattering when people tell my they like my music or loved this track, but I would make it regardless. Now about Greek music reality, I don't follow it that much (the mainstream part sucks lol), but I personally know many talented music makers here, I think it just gonna get more and more interesting in the future. Also i think that people in Greece are quite supportive of local artists that try to do something little bit different and inject some love into it.

FS:Have you collaborated/will you collaborate with artists from abroad?

P: Yes, at the moment I'm working with Neo Ouija for some future releases, got a couple of tracks at their latest compilation Diaspora. - Cottage industries 5.

FS: Name an artist with whom you would like to perform

P: oh I don't know... many. I really like meeting other artists on gigs so anyone really.

FS: Any plans for the future?

P: I want to make more and more music. Not many plans other that that really, just want to

keep in a creative mode as often as I can. I released my latest album “Apnea Eina” this year, and at the moment I am working on the next one.

During all these years that I have been writing music, I have gone through loads of different phases and it would be a lie to say for example that my sound is influenced more by this album than that album. E: I don’t think ettin will ever play live. I don’t consider my music entertaining or “sociable” at all to be performed live.

E: I don’t have any recent collaboration with a foreign artist apart from that with KraftF when he was based in Scottland. In general, I find it very interesting to exchange musical ideas and if the chance arises in the future I am definitely up for it.

E: If I had the chance to meet a “big name” backstage I would start talking about geeky, technical stuff . So you would have to think about an artist who’s a top expert like hm the Chemical Brothers for example.

Bio

drog_A_tek are a flexible music ensemble that redefines itself everytime they meet to jam. It is a diverse and eclectic group of improvisational disorder that emerged in 2001 in Athens and it records moments in real time and produces temporary sonic/visual environments. They use objects, analog/digital/ musical instruments, type-writers, frequencies, images, prerecorded files/ soundscapes and technological trash and they create small public narratives. drog_A_tek develop their performances beyond any procedural use instractions of their material. Magnitophono

Bio

“Magnitophono” is the music project of Eleni Adamopoulou, created on May 2007. The sound comes from recording moments through a videocamera. Samples of the city’s noise create melodic stories and depict electronic dreams. Stories are imagined also through photos and are written in collaboration with Dr. Orange. A robot inside a box, waiting for the receiver, dreams he is by the sea and he wants to swim.

The project was created with aim to have the contribution of other artists that share the same vision and soundscapes. This can either be their music, lyrics, a picture or whatever would give a different color to the sound.
Remixes for the project have been done by: Atom Numb(Italy), Naono(Greece), Echonomist (Greece), Achromatik Color( Greece), Rumorse(Australia), Moabi (France).

This music project was first presented at “ArtVert festival” in Athens, on January 2008. And also participated in the European Music day festival in Athens, on june 2008.

Some tracks will be released soon by Minuta Records (Switzerland).
Collaborations with other musicians: Joe Montana, Atom Numb, Stelios Romaliadis, Thomas Kostoulas, Harold Nono, Sector 028, Pleq, Yurai.

There is also another project by Eleni Adamopoulou called “Manekinekod” and some music of this project will be released by Monika Enterprise (Berlin) in October 2008 in the compilation “4 Women No Cry, vol.3”.

M:We can change things when we gather together and share what we love the most. Music industry in Greece is supporting mostly commercial music, and people need to listen to different sounds, like they need to see from a different view. I think if there were more collaborations we would learn more about sounds. We need to listen inside of us, but what is around us also is important, to make us discover another world.

NAONO

Bio
Naono aka Antonis Simeonidis is a recording artist, producer based in Athens, Greece. The music he creates blends melodic soundscapes and atmospheres with sliced and glued organic rhythms. Image creating music inspired from everyday sounds and surroundings.

Grown up in a music friendly environment, he started to experiment with music instruments and recording techniques at the age of 14. After graduating from a “Music Technology” course in the (U.K.), he released his first musical output in 2002.“Ati pol” a 4-track Ep release on the Vibrant Music Label , followed by a full-length CD album “Slope Drifting” (2003), on the same label.

Around the same period he started to perform live sets at various venues & festivals including: Synch festival (GR), Podewil (Berlin), Bios (GR), Musicday festival (GR), Small music theatre (GR) and others.

Aside from his own material, naono creates musical soundscapes for short films, documentaries and video art projects. Short film “Then it all came down” by C. Stollwerk – (2002),Documentary film “Radio Times” by C. Stollwerk – (2003), Short film “Impro Walk” by Nick Labot - (2005), “Aether Talk” (Athens Video Festival) – (2007). “Music on a long thin wire” – (2007).

In 2006 he releases “Reflux” on the IVDT Netlabel (U.S.A).He has participated in various compilation albums, ”On Second Thought Compilation “ (Sixteensteps 2006)(UK),”Ikude Compilation” (Shima Records 2007)(UK), as well as doing remixes for other artists. (el magnitophono, melorman ).

1)FS: Name one album that was very influential for the creation of your sound/project

N:Obviously a lot of albums & artists have inspired & influenced me. But if I was to pick one it would definitely be "Selected Ambient Works Volume II" by Aphex Twin.

2)FS:Name an influential gig

N: Probably Dead Can Dance around the period of the "Spirit Chaser" tour.

3)FS: Naono live

N: My live set is mostly laptop based, blended with live sampled sounds from various sources. I use video projections, still images and sometimes collaborate with physical/dance performers, creating an ambience of picture & sound. The last two years I perform together with Melorman, old time friend and fellow artist.

4)FS:What do you think you can offer/change in the Greek music scene/reality

N: Help create a positive (towards new artists) & inspiring "electronic" music-scene in Greece, in order to set-up more live scenes & festivals for local artists to perform and spread their music. Create a fertile ground for musicians to evolve & listeners to discover.

5)FS:Have you collaborated/will you collaborate with artists from abroad?

N: Yes I have collaborated with a few artists from abroad and from the local Greek scene ( Sixteen Steps, Vim Records, Shima Records, Fluxion, Magnitophono, Melorman, Doss House, HeadPhone Science etc). I'm always open to collaborating with other artists. At the moment I'm writing a new track for a V.A. Album on "F/m Records" a Thailand based net label. Nice thing about this VA album is that there is a theme for the music, which is “toys”.

6)FS: Name an artist with whom you would like to perform

N: I’m open to collaborate/perform with a lot of artists from various genres & styles. Most interesting scenario for me, is to create a live set with “real” musicians from the organic/ethnic/world music scene.

7)FS: Any plans for the future?

N: I'm interested in starting a few new music projects. One of them is a kind of up-tempo, Dixieland, jazzy weird beat thing. I have a few tracks on the go and am very curious to see how they turn out. Rest of the stuff is still buzzing around in my head.
Very important for me, is to be able to spread music outwards. It's beautiful to be able to share your thoughts, feelings, and music with other people. Just knowing that some moments are more magical & beautiful for others, is bliss. Music should be easily accessible & (most of the time) free for listeners. This next year hopefully will be quite creative for me, with a lot of releases on various net labels (mp3) and even some “conventional” record labels (cd-vinyl ).
I'm completely happy with just creating and sharing my music. Now if I could also manage to tour some parts of the world, while performing live sets at various festivals & venues, well I guess that would be two times bliss.

Bio

absent without leave is the solo project of the 26 year-old George Mastrokostas, based in Athens, Greece. Recording everything himself in his home-studio, he creates a melancholic sound that covers a multitude of styles such as shoegaze, post-rock, ambient and electronica.
To date, he has released his music on labels such as unlabel (uk), duotone (japan), chat blanc (canada), distant noise (uk), fuzzy panda (usa), bsbta (denmark), october man (uk) and also on his own label sound in silence (greece) and has collaborated for split releases with artists like yellow6, kimonophonic, lope, doogie and cono norte 3.
He has played several gigs in Greece at various venues, including synch festival 2007 (among other artists like mum, !!!, front 242, fischerspooner, alexander hacke and many others), support gig for section 25 (from legendary factory records) and has been personally invited by artists like piano magic, god is an astronaut, manyfingers and sigmatropic to open their concerts.

1)FS: Name one album that was very influential for the creation of your sound/project

AWL: For me one of the most influential albums is loveless by my bloody valentine. Absent without leave doesn’t sound like my bloody valentine but this album was the one that changed my mind generally about music. It’s full of great melodies, rhythms and has a very nice feeling too.

2)FS:Name an influential gig

AWL: In the last years I have seen many good concerts here I Athens (the cure, depeche mode, kraftwerk, godspeed you black emperor!, mogwai, tortoise, piano magic, mum, mono, explosions in the sky…) but the one that I liked most was a concert by sigur ros back in 2003. It was the best concert I have ever seen.

3)FS: Absent without leave live

AWL: Since now I have played some concerts here in

Greece

and hope that soon I will play outside Greece too. I have played with great artists like piano magic, mum, manyfingers and section 25 (from the legendary factory records). As about my future concerts I will do some gigs here in Athens in autumn. Amongst them is a concert with god is an astronaut and another one with port-royal. The concert with port-royal will be a live presentation of our common split album magnitogorsk, which will be released in next days by my own label sound in silence.

4)FS:What do you think you can offer/change in the Greek music scene/reality

AWL: I can’t tell that I can change something in the Greek music scene because my music style isn’t so popular here, so I’m just trying to play the music I like. Things are difficult here for an independent artist who plays only instrumental music but I hope that this will be changed sometime soon.

5)FS:Have you collaborated/will you collaborate with artists from abroad?

AWL: I have done some really great collaborations with artists from many different countries like yellow6 (uk), kimonophonic (Canada), lope (Sweden) and others too and these days I’m doing some more collaborations with artists like port-royal (italy), televise (ex-slowdive) (uk), carta (usa) and others that will be released in next months.

7)FS: Any plans for the future?

AWL: In next days I will release a split album with port-royal called magnitogorsk and I will do some gigs for promoting this album. After that I will do some remixes for artists like yellow6 (uk), televise (ex-slowdive) (uk), jatun (usa), epic45 (uk) and carta (usa) and I will participate in some compilations on labels like enraptured (uk), friend of mine (japan), 9.12 records (usa) and symbolic interaction (japan). _____________________________________________________________________________

7 Questions to know him better

1)FS: Name one album that was very influential for the creation of your sound/project

A: I like to think of my sound as a collage of influences filtered through my own prismatic eardrum. The range of influences includes, but does not limit itself, to the kinds of music I have walked through from childhood until today, but extends over a varied aural field composed around my life, my experiences and memories, perceptions and points of view. Everything and anything that is capable of producing a sound works as a source of inspiration for me. Even silence. Especially that!

2)FS:Name an influential gig

A: Concerts are overestimated! I’m only joking! Still, as far as I’m concerned, the best orchestrations come from neighbouring apartments, a city’s soundscape, the dynamic interaction of people with machines and with each other. Every action has a sonorous consequence and I am attracted by the little things that make up the big picture.

3)FS: AZA live

A: This is hard to answer. It is presumptuous to speak on anyone’s behalf so I’d rather not. In the end, to witness a live performance remains something entirely experiential and personal. Nevertheless, judging from my own experiences, the melody -or the lack of it- consists an avatar by which the listener can sail away on his own personal voyage. But just to be on the safe side, I always handout earplugs!

4)FS:What do you think you can offer/change in the Greek music scene/reality

A: If there was something I could offer or achieve through my work that would be the way the public has been trained to perceive, understand and appreciate sounds and musical forms. In the mist of our senses we tend to be sonic-illiterate and audio-confined, although it has been repeatedly demonstrated how the binary distinctions between sound/noise or harmony/ataxia are retraceable to the source of social consensus. So this is the first thing I would like to smash with my airwaves!

5)FS:Have you collaborated/will you collaborate with artists from abroad?

A: Collaborative projects can prove to be a very interesting and fruitful experience between the participating artists. In the past I have had some proposals which, unfortunately, I was able to meet due to my busy schedule. However, I am always open to invitations; given that we share matching goals.

6)FS: Name an artist with whom you would like to perform

A: Ryoji Ikeda, Alva Noto, Murcoff, Zavoloka and… Coil (if John Balance was still with us). From the Greek scene, I find Coti K. and Lena Platonos of outmost interest.

7)FS: Any plans for the future?

A: Many ideas have been swirling in my head and are on their way to materialization. Some concern live performances and live sets, whilst others engage with installations. In the meantime, I continue to work on new material which I hope to see completed by 2009.

Vello Leaf

Bio

Vello Leaf is a three-piece band that started its musical journey in 1999 in the south end of Greece, Chania. Core members of the band all these years (Nikos Grivakis, Michalis Koulieris and Apostolis Lionoudakis) have always collaborated with several guest musicians who join them both on stage and in studio.

As of 2005 and under the name "deep.insight", the band had recorded two self-released handmade EPs ("Lifepoint..." in 2001, "distorted.images" in 2003) and had participated in various projects including music for theatrical plays, a various artists compilation, theme music for websites and other audiovisual projects.

Vello Leaf made their brake-through in December 2006, releasing their debut-EP "Morning Star" (featuring female vocals by Alexandra Mckay Diamantopoulou) which got praising reviews from the press and was later voted at the top-13 of 2007 in Greece by the readers of Avopolis & Sonik music magazine. "One Last Tear" appeared in the soundtrack of the movie "Alter Ego" [Village Films & EMI], as well as in "City Campers" compilation [The Sound Of Everything] and "Whispers" was featured in Dimitris Papaspyropoulos' "A Silent Wonder" compilation [Sony-BMG]. Vello Leaf won the first place presenting their new song, "Long Way", along with the short film "tvctm" at the alternative music contest "Yurovision '07" that took place at Gagarin 205, Athens, on May 9th 2007. Another song from their upcoming release, "Now that we are...", was included in the limited edition compilation "Audiobook 3" [Postwave].

Since 2002, the band has been music supervisor for 6 theatrical performances and composed the original score for 3 of them. The plays have taken place in Athens, Patras, Serres, Chania, Minsk (plays by William Shaekspeare, Federico Garcia Lorca, Loula Anagnostaki, Iakovos Kampanelis, Vasilis Ziogas).

1)FS: Name one album that was very influential for the creation of your sound/project

VL:There are more than one albums but the one that had a bit more impact on our sound is Souvlaki by Slowdive.

3)FS: Vello Leaf live

VL:We don’t play live a lot and that is the reason for trying to make each of our live appearances unique. We usually combine our sounds with short experimental films and video art or we try play our songs with different intrumentation.

4)FS:What do you think you can offer/change in the Greek music scene/reality

VL:We can’t talk about making a change in the Greek music scene without taking into account the need for the creation of a dynamic scene. As long as this is assured we can start talking about great changes.

5)FS:Have you collaborated/will you collaborate with artists from abroad?

VL:There are some collaborative projects with artists from abroad and the most recent example is the remix of “One last tear” by “Joel & Ben” (UK).
For our forthcoming release, we have been discussing with various artists from abroad but there is nothing official yet.

6)FS: Name an artist with whom you would like to perform

VL:There are lots of bands that we would like to perform with but at this stage we would be happy with a participartion in a European festival.

7)FS: Any plans for the future?

VL:We are currently working or our new CD that will be released around the second half of 2009. We are also planning to do a series of gigs in Greece.

Bio

Maria P. (aka Dalot) has been a sound/instalation artist and experimental music composer for the last four years. After the completion of her studies in French Literature in Greece in 2004, she had decided to move to England to pursue studies in sonic arts. Since then she has had the chance to collaborate with various visual artists, choreographers and performers. Her compositions have been featured in festivals such as The Icelandic Festival of Experimental Film, Sunrise Festival(UK) and Sound waves Festival( UK), Athens Video-Art Festival among others. Her current projects, TRAJECOTRY and ATHENA are focusing on phonographic sound, radiophonic ontology, voice, narrative and how they interrelate in the creation of spatial and emotional understanding of a place. Her latest release under the name dalot is the six track ep entitled “Flight Sessions”.

1)FS: Name one album that was very influential for the creation of your sound/project

D:It is difficult to answer the question because my first point of reference always is literature or cinema but I will just mention three:
Hecker: Mirages
Fennesz: Practically anything from him I guess
Colleen: I love Colleen. Golden morning breaks was the soundtrack for many good and bad times in the past and still is.

2)FS:Name an influential gig

D:I would say Sonic Youth, Tim Hecker, Bjork or Authechre but this has changed when I saw My bloody Valentine at the Roundhouse, London three months ago

3)FS: dalot live

D:I prefer to play live as part of a group. In the past few years I have mainly performed as a vocalist, guitarist and toy-instrumentalist. I have only used a laptop set-up ( in combination with vinyl and live audio manipulation) for abstract experimental DJ sets. In the case of Dalot, I wouldn’t want to be a girl behind a laptop( which is OK but I would feel uncomfortable with). But if I was asked to I would figure out something along the lines of video projection, laptop improvisation and possibly a few other people onstage with me on guitars and some kind of percussionist. I have been asked quite a few times in the past to perform live but I just didn’t have the best possible equipment to support this.

4)FS:What do you think you can offer/change in the Greek music scene/reality

D:It is difficult nowadays to define the “Greek Music Scene” mainly because things are more open and artists can easily share/exchange what they do on an international level through the internet, especially in “underground” genres that use an international music dialect. If there is a scope to localize the action, instead of talking about dalot’s input, I would first change the mentality of some people. I have participated in a festival in Greece earlier this year and I have to admit things were chaotic and disorganized. So that is a good starting point.

From the artist’s side it is always useful to create a dynamic scene. Establishing a “quality” annual festival definatelly makes a change in that aspect, progressively at least. Synch festival for example does make a difference as it brings quality artists from abroad and also gives a chance to “local” projects to get cracking. Things are moving in Greece I think but we have our own (Mediterranean style) pace that makes things happen but in a relaxed and almost silent way. I don’t know whether that’s good for the “dynamic” bit but it definitely helps for the “scene” bit to emerge. Change takes more than one to happen and it takes time.

5)FS:Have you collaborated/will you collaborate with artists from abroad?

D:I have collaborated with a few dancers from the UK and Greece, a video artist from China that now resides in London and a few UK based musicians. I would like to collaborate with some fellow Greek artists as well at some point. There is loads of quality music going on out there at the moment. Anyways, there is nothing planned for the near future though as I am very busy completing my studies.

6)FS: Name an artist with whom you would like to perform

D:I don’t know really and I haven’t thought of that I have to admit. Preferably with anyone who likes what I do and likewise with artists who are interested in creating an experience rather than just showing off skills. Luckily enough in “my genre”, artists care mostly for the former and are very sincere and devoted to the sense of creating an ambience that everyone can resonate with. In that sense, Robin Rimbaud (aka Scanner) is a possible straightforward answer to the question. I really love what he does and even though the way he does it is pretty much static, the content of his sound is thrilling. Same for AGF I love her style, her vocal improvisations and her atmospheres.

7)FS: Any plans for the future?

D:Not really but to complete my studies, clear my head out from that, take a big-ish break and start working on some new material. I have my recent ep completed so I have to start bringing it forward. I have loads of old songs that I haven’t brought to light yet so maybe that could also be another project. Of course collaborating with other artists is always an interesting plan as well but I have already said that, haven’t I?
